I was born on August 14, 1963 in Lompoc, CA. I don't remember California
really, since we moved up to Seattle, WA when I was only 2 1/2. I love living in the Pacific Northwest. I don't
think I could survive without all the water and trees, or the sheltering comfort of being ringed by mountains.
I have been married since December 22, 1981 to Alfredo Shanklin.
We met while working at a local K-Mart store, going out for the first time together in October of that year and marrying two
months later. Our oldest son, William, was born nine months later, followed by Ray Jay in 1984, Shandi in 1987, and
Kilia in 1989. We now have three grandchildren as well - Jayden, Athena, and Viso.
My interests include reading, photography, cooking, and art. I used
to be big into gardening, even studying Landscape Design for a bit, but our 1/4 acre yard has cured me of that, at least temporarily,
by overwhelming my senses.
I also love to go hiking. We have so many places to explore around
here that you could spend a lifetime choosing different trails to travel and not hit them all. My favorite hike so far
was up Sauk Mountain in the North Cascades. The view below was stunning and, even in August when we went, there were
wildflowers everywhere.
