Have ye e’er heard tell of the Selkie, sealwoman of the Isles?
How sweet the sound is of her voice or how she soon beguiles?
The careless sailor onto rocks and drags him ‘neath the sea
To make of him her lover, for all eternity?
At times, she’ll walk upon the shores, dark beauty so forlorn,
Though nary is a creature so graceful ever born.
They say that if you find her skin and keep it from her sight,
She’ll stay with ye ta be ye're wife, and not put up a fight.
Yet children born with large brown eyes and liquid blue-black hair
Are marked as those the waves have claimed and must be watched with care,
For Mannanan soon will call them home to ne’er be seen again.
Ye’re heart so full of love for her, forever filled with pain.
Beware the Selkie woman who wanders from her home.
She’ll drag ye’re soul down with her, beneath the ocean's foam…
