That Night

I saw first your caramel eyes
and wondered at the flavors
reflected in your gaze.
Soft as cream, that first touch,
a velvet whisper of promise
hinting exotic secrets
to be revealed in
the silence of night.
Restless I was
to delve into those mysteries,
to melt within your arms,
to be swept away in fires
fueled by foreign dreams
and yet...
with a sweet kiss
you revealed a deepness
I had but dreamed of...
Marveling at your restraint,
I yearned to press its boundaries,
to explore the surface of your soul
in search of a passage into depths
where I might find the
precious oblivion
your strength promised.
My journey met with a smile,
an unveiling of truths, and then...
a word of consent
that sent my heart soaring
my body quivering...
To have lived before that moment
was but an illusion
for your embrace brought
life to my very existence,
taught my nerves to feel,
my heart to beat.
The world fell away,
recreated in the image
of love and passion
you ignited within my understanding.
Skin melted into skin
in the heat of offering
uniting our two beings
into one,
reborn...
boundaries evaporating
in the mists
of irrelevancy,
forever surrendering
ourselves to the
joining of souls
the night would forge.
And then, in the light of morning,
I lay listening to the
steady rhythm of your breathing...
Eternity it whispered.
My heart answering...
Forever,
and so it was....
